Great site Geoff!!! All you need is a clip of you from the Taliban-IRA show!
Comment by: Geoff Desmoulin
To Simon: Thanks for the props. Nope never been on TV before. It took me to IRA vs Taliban to feel completely comfortable in front of the camera... Yes, we are planning for more than 9 eps for season 2 BUT nothing on paper yet. As for meeting David... nah man... I wish! But apparently he voiced it in Australia so no one got to meet him!

Hey Geoff, just wanted to say that I think DW is an awesome show both for the skill and prowess of the weapons experts and the affability of the hosts (despite never having been on camera before right?). I hope Season 2 keeps up with the quality of the previous episodes and has more than 9 and I look forward to seeing what other types of match ups are in store for us.
BTW, have you gotten the chance to meet David Wenham at all? I admire a lot of his work and thought it cool that he lent his voice to the narration of the show.

What's up Geoff, just sent you an e-mail asking about any tips for a future BME. I start college in August, anyways love the show Deadliest Warrior and wasn't sure what kind of things to expect from a BME until I noticed your title on the show

Hey Geoff, good to see an ex Cdn svc mbr doing well. I have a question. Is there any plans for DW to release a DVD set of the first season? I've enjoyed the series very much and have friends around the world that I'm sure would enjoy it aswell. Good luck with the next season.

Hi Jeff, I loved the first season od DW and hope there is more to come. What unit did you serve with?
Comment by: David Anderson
Sup Geoff. I love your show! I'm an internet scientist so I love seeing Max Geiger do all kinds of crazy stuff. Say hi to him for me! You should do some karate on the show -- I think YOU are the deadliest warrior!!
Comment by: Tim Culhane
Hey Geoff, just wanted to say congratulations on your success on Deadliest warrior and I'm glad to see from your education backround and hard work that it's paid off for you and looks like you're having fun. My co-workers and I eagerly watch the show and discuss the results. The fact that you're Canadian makes the show that much cooler!
Comment by: Bonnie
My husband and I are Army vets who love the show and the way it introduces military history to a population that might not otherwise be interested. One thing we were talking about after the IRA/Taliban show - what if Mossad and the SS were pitted against each other? Both sides have some interesting weaponry, and a matchup like that sure would get viewer attention!
Thanks for reading my idea and putting on a great show!
Comment by: Oli Gar
Great show Geoff. Very entertaining. I was wondering, can you confirm the possibilty of a second season of Deadliest Warrior?
Comment by: Marisa Miller
So I discovered this show on the day there was a marathon (Lucky me!) and I am absolutely addicted. It's a perfect mix of science, humor, flashy technology and costumes and history. What an application of your degree! I enjoy you, Max's and Dr. Dorian's dynamic - very chill overall, but still focussed and impressed with the sheer power of some of the weapons shown. I also enjoy the experts arguing with each other...mostly the Green Beret vs. Spetsnaz, because they actually were all formerly in the army (wheras I don't think the other people were actually Spartans or Pirates...or maybe they are, who knows these days).
I agree with Aparna that there should be a female warrior - perhaps an amazon warrior, or someone specific like Joan of Arc - I sent that to those at Spike (I hope they take my advice).
Anyways, sorry for babbling, AWESOME job, can't wait for the second season!!!! Also will the first season be available on DVD by any chance?
Keep up the great work!
Comment by: Geoff Desmoulin
To Aparna: You are not the only one who wanted to see female warriors. We are talking about it BUT nothing is signed off. Shout it out to Spike at spike-feedback@spike.com if you wish.
Comment by: Aparna Shankar
First of all, The Deadliest Warrior is hands down one of the best shows I've ever seen. I recently watched the marathon on Spike. Being a girl, I would like to see a woman or 2 on your show (that's my only issue). What I found most fascinating is the various professions of all the people on the show, and how you all bring something unique to the table. I never would have imagined your professions working together on a show like this. The show is completely captivating and your down to earth nature makes you great as a host. When will we see season 2?

To Leah (below), Yes, I am Canadian. No, I have not given up on my PhD. While I work in the US at times... I have a full time research position in Canada... so call me North American.
Comment by: Jacob William Ballew
you have such a cool middle name. You are the mighty THOR son of Odin (norse mythlogy. Unlike my middle name William people will start calling me William Wallace the Braveheart (no problem with that. Talk to you later. Peace

i will say it again in front of these people you did awesome in the show.

I did a search for you after hearing that you served with the Canadian military. You're Canuck! And multi-talented, apparently. I have to say it saddens me that Canada is no longer able to claim your expertise, though at least you're contributing to the gradual Canadian takeover of the US. I hope you haven't given up on your PhD, though it looks like you're having a lot of fun. And I'll add that I've really been enjoying 'Deadliest Warrior', too.

Dear Mr. Desmoulin,
How's it going? I suppose Sean and I have similar ideas about the accuracy of the show. In the article you said there was 90% scientific accuracy, though I still wonder if getting experts to hit things and then let computers calculate "scenarios" is statistically accurate. As I've said, the best evidence is that which happens in actual scenarios, not computer evaluations of various "laboratory" tests. Not only that, taking these characters that probably have more weapons, different tactics, and the true element of randomness that's not found in the laboratory, in real life, should make people wonder why there are any calculations made. The show should be the Deadliest Weapon, rather than Warrior. The Warrior is the real weapon. Thanks and taiaha my head using simulations---though my head may be harder than your taiaha (though not necessarily bigger..;))!
Sincerely,
John, who wants to know when Conservative vs. Liberal Warrior will be on.

Just wanted to say that your show is kick ass! It would be awesome to see a James Bond vs. Jason Bourne or Ethan hunt or something like that. Anyway keep up the good work... Peace, Zane from Alberta

Sorry Geoff, forgot to mention this.
I love the deadliest warrior and I know that the season finale episode, IRA vs Taliban, will be awesome! Whoever thought about getting 2 terrorists to fight each other.

Received this e-mail from Jacob a fan of DW. It cracked me up: "i'm a fan of the show and i could all day you did awesome. As a thirteen year old teen i am interested in warriors.. I want to study biomedicine too. Cool gold ring, are you married or something because my mom (she is single and avialable) says your handsome. You'll be a cool step-dad."

Hello Sean... I'll group you with the person only known as 'John' below and hit you both over the head with my favorite weapon the Taiaha. Perhaps then you'll wake up and realize that the reason you enjoyed it was because it was a fast paced TV show and not my dissertation. I'll refer you also to the following article where I address comments like this: http://thetorchonline.com/2009/05/04/deadliest-warrior-geoff-desmoulin-takes-blood-and-guts-very-seriously/

Hello Mr.Desmoulin, I really enjoy the show. Something I'd like to point out though is when testing weapons, your team often uses different tests with way too many variables. Perhaps following the scientific method might produce more accurate results...
Can't wait for season 2!

Dear Mr. (G) T. (Desmoulin),
How are things? I'm pleasantly relieved? that you're Canadian. My family and I were just watching the Shaolin and Maori battle it out. Before that (seems like there was a mini-marathon on Spike), there was the Russian and American guys (Spetsnaz and Green Beret, I think), though my dad thought the projectile knife was not as practical as that spade-like weapon the Americans had. (Lay person terms, excusez-moi)
Although I see that you have done some combat, life-saving, and practical science, I wonder, through your research, what martial art seems the most practical? My dad thinks aikido and dim mak (he's waiting for an episode with a dim mak expert) are the most efficient when combined, using the body as the weapon.
I think Nei Jia would be interesting to see, perhaps with some poisons thrown in for "good" measure. I think the dealiest warrior is the one people don't know exist. (Well, minus supernatural entities and Inspector Clouseau, the practical warriors are those who can use their bodies and knowledge of nature to "manipulate" their..."targets")
It would also be interesting to know what would happen with an AI-component---the deadliest warrior coupled with a machine with exabytes or so of intelligence. Maybe that's a bit futuristic, overbudget, and a bit too artificial, but I guess some other people would be interested since the new Terminator movie is out.
I'm also wondering about the practicality of this show. We all enjoy watching it, but is it truly accurate? Sure the software is there, but does putting in these concocted possibilities really give a "real" result? That is, is not the actual situation the determines the statistics? I think the real scientific method would be to examine the success rates of each "warrior" through their "actual" respective histories, rather than get professionals to "massacre things" and then determine a warrior based on weapon, "minimal experimental observation", speed, applications, and sometimes, it seems, banter. Well, then you'd have to make a new show and no one would see parts fly all over and people of various cultures ribbing each other.
Thanks for the show! Probably will watch William Wallace and Shaka Zulu. It'd be great to hear back from you, provided that you don't want to put a taiaha through my head.
Sincerely,
John Q.

Hello Mr. Desmoulin,
I was watching an episode of deadliest warrior and saw your name and your occupation of being a biomedical engineer and i was truly inspired. I have future plans on becoming a biomedical engineer and was hoping maybe you could reply, telling me about what you do, and how the world of biomedical engineering is.
Thank you,
